The ALC Buggy Club in Longvic, France, witnessed an amazing display of skill and speed as the British Radio Control Association’s allocated drivers gathered to compete in the highly anticipated European Championship Race, the EURO B’s………
The track's challenging layout and the presence of some of the finest drivers from across Europe promised a thrilling spectacle for both participants and spectators alike.
Day 1: Practice and Reseeding Rounds
The event kicked off with a full day consisting of 4 practice rounds and 2 reseeding rounds, all allowing the drivers to familiarise themselves with the track's unique characteristics. The ALC Longvic Buggy track, known for its technical sections and fast straights, demanded precision and control from the competitors. The British drivers wasted no time in fine-tuning their setups, engine tunes and tyre choice for the qualifying rounds on the following day!
Day 2: Qualifying Rounds
Under the clear skies of a sunny morning, the qualifying rounds began. Each driver aimed to put in their best performance to secure a favourable starting position for the finals. The British contingent displayed impressive speed and skill, consistently setting competitive lap times and battling for the top spots in their respective heats!
Among the standout performers was Erik Lykke, who showcased exceptional car control and speed throughout the qualifying rounds. Erik’s consistency paid off, securing him a semi final starting position. Other notable British junior drivers, such as Dylan Saunders, Billy Grindley and Ben Simpson, also displayed their prowess, earning themselves solid starting positions for the upcoming finals!
Day 3: Finals Day
The atmosphere was electric as the track opened on the Sunday morning - ready for all of the finals to get underway! The track was fantastically durable and remained consistent on what was thousands of completed laps. The intensity was palpable as the British drivers took their places on the starting grid in all of their respective finals!
The final finishing order for our GB drivers would be:

Rob Cockcroft - 1/128 B - 111th
Mick Butler - 1/64 B - 97th
Holger Lykke - 1/64 B - 96th
Scott Walker - 1/32 A - 79th
Camden Stenhouse - 1/32 B - 76th
Dave Shedd - 1/32 A - 71st
Max McDonnell - 1/16 B - 65th
Adam Hall - 1/16 B - 63rd
Darren Hayden-Ball - 1/16 B - 60th
Dave Gibson - 1/8 B - 46th
Ben Simpson Semi B - 24th
Erik Lykke Semi A - 16th
With the semi final completed it would be Dylan Saunders and Billy Grindley picking up 2 spots in the main final - Dylan would have a great final and finish in 5th position and Billy in 10th, well done boys.
David Gibson would also have an amazing final in the +40 Category taking the win after a tough 20 minute battle with Denmark’s Peter Harder! Well done Dave.
