We are excited to get back to outdoors racing later this month after the awesome Indoor Masters a few weeks ago. Thanks again to everyone who supported that event.
Having reflected on the 2023 season and the discussions at the AGM around our race format and schedule for the National Weekends, the committee have considered all options to try and maximise track time, address marshalling challenges created through half-full finals and running order difficulties often driven due to one class have significantly more entries than others.
We also wanted to ensure we communicated the format and schedule ahead of Round 1 so that racers have full transparency of how the 2024 season will be run. Changes to the format will only be made due to circumstances outside the sections control (e.g. bad weather).
2024 Race Weekend Format
Saturday
- Open practice for a least 4.5 hours starting no earlier than 9am but no later than 10am. Start and end times will be confirmed for each meeting depending on number of entrants.
- A driver briefing will be circulated to all entrants ahead of the event and a short recap will take place after open practice but before qualifying.
- 2 rounds of Qualifying, to start no earlier than 2pm.
Sunday
- Short drivers briefing recap.
- 1 round of Qualifying.
- Finals
- Finals will be double sided with the top 14 drivers (7 in each semi-final) automatically qualifying for the semi-finals. Lower finals will be structured according to number of entrants with bump ups into the semi-finals.
- Top 5 from each semi-final will qualify for the main final.
- Where a class has less than 18 entrants, a single sided final structure will be adopted for that meeting, with the top 7 drivers qualifying automatically for the Main Final and the remaining drivers running in the semi-final with top 3 bumping up to the main final.
- Prize giving ceremony.
