12th Circuit

To start the 2024 LMP12 National season, we took a trip to the south of England to Eastbourne.

Round 1: Saturday

By the end of qualifying, the fast Ollie Payne secured the TQ position being the only driver with a 35 lap race. Adam Mackman qualified in 2nd, and Andy Murray in 3rd. The young Finley Whitelock qualified 6th, less than 0.1s ahead of current LMP12 World Championships podium finisher Mark Stiles in 7th. A special mention goes to Chase Mackman, qualifying for his first LMP12 National A-Final at 13 years old!

In the A-Final, Ollie Payne held the lead for the full 8 minute race and won the A-Final. The remaining podium positions had a shuffle with Michael Bolt being promoted to 2nd and Adam Mackman in 3rd.

Round 2: Sunday

The heating in the sports hall increased and helped increase the grip level, allowing drivers to set some of the fastest race times of the weekend. But once again, the pole position was taken by Ollie Payne with a 36 lap race! Andy Murray narrowly missed out on 36 laps, but secured 2nd on the grid, followed by Michael Bolt in 3rd. Louis Parker qualified in 4th, only 0.06s behind Michael Bolt. Special mention to Andreas Bryne, who travelled from Norway to compete in round 1 and 2 of the BRCA Nationals, and qualified 9th overall in the A-Final!

The final had a close battle at the front, but Ollie Payne had a fast and consistent race and took another A-Final win. Louis Parker was promoted to 2nd, and Mark Stiles finished in 3rd closely followed by Sam Coult in 4th. Both Morgan Williams and Aaron Morley gained 2 positions in the race finishing in 6th and 8th.

A huge thank you to the Eastbourne club for hosting the brilliant event, and we’re looking forward to seeing more close racing at round 3 and 4 in Alfreton!
