Massive thankyou to Ben and Kaz Atkinson and all the BORC team for having us. Another successful national round completed. Over half way through now. Just 3 left before the world finals at Charged RC.
Thankyou to my great team who helped run the day, Mick Wood Allan Inness Jason Reed Thomas Bailey and Lucas Reed.
Main Event:
We had a couple of new national drivers join us this weekend. Well done to all. One being Richard Ball, he joined us for his first national with a self built car and did an awesome job
24 heats of qualifying (4 rounds of 6 heats) top 2 straight through with the next 16 into 2 semi finals. Well Done to Anthony Wyper and Noah Bailey top qualifiers.
The next 16 went into 2 semis finals.
- Semi 1. Paul Jenkinson finishing 1st with 105 laps, Brian Cuthill with 103 and Gary McMullen with 100 laps. No 13 Allan Inness was definitely unlucky with his 100 laps finishing 4th.
- Semi 2. Was even closer than the first. Richard Ball taking the win with 104 laps. 2nd 3rd 4th all crossed the line with 100 laps. Very close and fast racing. Well done Mick wood and Lennon Cuthill following Richard to the main final.
Whites & Yellows:
Top 8 qualifiers taken from the qualifying list were grided for a final race. Luke Peace pulled out to give his space to the next on the list which was young Harrison Stott. Our youngest racer on the day at just 10 years old. Well done to Darren Newton taking the win with 99 laps.
Grand National, standard fast savage race. Definitely not for the faint hearted. 14 cars joined the grid.
Congratulations to Lucas Reed taking the win with 91 laps. Also well done to Belle Newton, just turned 13 and was her first National and only 2nd ever f2 meeting, (her first one was a good few years ago)
Main final, with Toe and Noah front row, you know it's going to be a very fast & hard race, especially with the 6 behind ready to chase them down. After 6 minutes Toe crossed the line first with 113 laps, Noah close behind on 111, Paul a little further back on 106. Richard 104, Mick 103, Gary 100, Brian 99, Lennon 69.
Post race Scrutineering was done and unfortunately Gary's car failed, it was too low, so he was dropped to 8th place. Well done to Noah on the fastest lap of the race with a 2.95. Anthony on 2.96. Both being the only two drivers to hit under a 3 second lap throughout the day. Both getting 2.97/2.98 in most their races. (With the odd exceptions of a few line crashes lol)
- Top White Grade Award Darren Newton
- Top Yellow Grade Award Luke Peace
- Top Blue Grade Award Iain Roper.
Thankyou to everyone who made it a great days racing, prompt to scrutineering, excellent marshalling, you were all on the ball. So thankyou drivers for a great day.
